Jeo Baby is a noted Malayalam filmmaker acclaimed for creating socially conscious, women-centric cinema. He began as a scriptwriter for television sitcoms such as Marimayam and Uppum Mulakum before making his directorial debut with 2 Penkuttikal (2016). His subsequent film Kunju Daivam (2017) won the National Film Award for Best Children’s Film, signaling his commitment to socially engaged storytelling.

Jeo’s landmark film The Great Indian Kitchen (2021) became a cultural phenomenon, critically praised for its raw, unflinching portrayal of patriarchy within domestic spaces. The film won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Film and has been remade in Tamil and adapted into Hindi. In 2023, he directed Kaathal – The Core, a bold narrative about sexuality and marriage in rural Kerala, starring Mammootty and Jyothika.

A key voice in contemporary Indian cinema, Jeo is also a recipient of a Kerala State Special Jury Mention for his anthology segment in

Freedom Fight.
