Amudhan R.P. is a Tamil filmmaker and media educator with over 25 years of experience in activist cinema. Raised in rural Tamil Nadu, his formative experiences watching films in "Touring Talkies" shaped his belief in cinema as a democratic space. Amudhan has directed more than 22 documentaries on caste, labor, environment, and gender, including SHIT, Notes from a Crematorium, and Radiation Stories. His films have been acclaimed in both activist and festival circles. He founded the Madurai International Documentary and Short Film Festival and the Chennai counterpart, curating thematic festivals on social justice across India.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, Amudhan has pioneered mobile phone filmmaking, producing over 40 short videos and conducting more than 50 workshops on smartphone cinema across South India. He recently completed the first segment of a documentary series on working women.
